The Cold Truth About Toddlers + Tips.

I bet you are all excited about your baby becoming a toddler, right? This is the fun age, they can verbally tell me what they want, time for potty training. Let me tell you the truth about having a toddler.  Toddlers may look cute and sweet, but they aren't always like that. The way I describe my toddler is sour patch kid. Trust me, this is fitting to most toddlers. Here's the truth about toddlers. 1. They act like wild animals: they play with their own poop as well as your animals poop. They climb on EVERYTHING and they don't mind eating out of a dog bowl on the ground. 2. They are destructive. They will break anything, even things you didn't think were breakable. They like to destroy furniture as well. 3. They are kind of evil. You will find the heads, legs and arms of their baby dolls not attached to their bodies. Sometimes, they'll even put the dolls detached limbs in their mouths and then giggle. 4. They are thieves. They will take anything that isn...

How-to do your makeup in 7 minutes. *VIDEO*

Hey Lovelies! This goes along with what I said in my previous  post  about how we don't have enough time. Well, I'm going to be doing a quick simple make up look in 7 MINUTES. This is totally doable every morning, right? Lets see if I can actually do my makeup in 7 minutes.  No, this video isn't rehearsed.  TIPS: Pick out your makeup the night before and lay it out so you can use the whole 7  minutes putting it on. Pick your clothes out the night before too so you can coordinate your makeup with your clothes.  I mean, if you do that like I do.  As you can see, if you just want a quick simple look, it is possible to do it in 7 minutes. You can find here, the  Mermaid Makeup Brushes  I was using. The brush I was using works really well for blending!!

Dear Ignorant Woman In Line Behind me,

Dear Ignorant woman in line behind me , I heard you bad mouth that mom and her two kids in the checkout stand in the grocery store the other day. I heard you judge and criticize her because her two kids were crying. I noticed that you had your child who isn't that young anymore with you. So, now I have to ask... What makes you a better mom than her?! What gave you the right to belittle her in public for everyone else to hear you?! Do you know this mom's life? What she's been dealing with or going through now? What makes you think you can tell her how to parent HER KIDS?! It's obvious that she's already struggling at the checkout stand, trying to checkout and pay while trying to calm her kids down. She's already embarrassed and you just made it worse by being uncompassionate and just ignorant. If you see another mom struggling in the grocery store or wherever, offer your assistance like a decent human being. If you can't do that and only have unhelpf...

What A Mom Wishes Others Understood.

When we become a mom, our entire life changes. Literally, everything, right down to the way we think. That's a huge change. Although becoming a mom is the best thing ever, it can certainly be emotionally altering. Postpartum depression can occur in many women after they give birth. This makes everything much more difficult. It makes simple things seem impossible. A lot of people who aren't parents don't understand what postpartum depression can do to a mom. Here's what we wish everyone else would understand when it comes to our crazy mom life. We want to be friends still, we promise Yes, we cancel plans a lot. Sometimes for legitimate reasons and sometimes just because we are too physically or emotionally exhausted to leave the house. We are just so busy pretty much 24/7. We rarely sleep. We probably don't eat 3 meals a day like we're suppose to. We are just emotionally, physically and mentally tired, so please don't give up on us. Our babies ar...

5 things you shouldn't say to a mom.

There are way more than 5 things that a non-mom shouldn't say to a mom, but these 5 are my personal favorites. Yes, people have actually said these to me before. "That's not good for your kid to eat." ...Just like those fries aren't good for you to eat, Susan? Last time I checked, this was MY kid and I pay for her food. You try getting a toddler to eat well balanced meals every single day! It's just not reality, Susan! "You aren't bringing your kid, are you?" For one, this is a rude want to ask, and two, if my kid isn't welcome to come with her mother, then why the heck would I want to go, Mary?! No thanks, I'll stay home and watch Sesame Street with my unwelcomed kid.. "You should teach your kid this... or that..." ...And I think your mom should re-teach you manners, Tammy. This is MY kid. Do you have kids, Tammy? No? You have a dog? Yeah, not even close to the same thing. You don't like the way I tea...

First day of daycare.

Ever since Averie was born, I vowed to myself and everyone that I would never put her in daycare. Yes, I was one of those mom's. Over protective and worried, but when a mom has a full time job and no other options, we gotta do what we gotta do. It all happened so fast, that I didn't really have time to mentally prepare myself for the fact that MY CHILD IS GOING TO DAYCARE. So, needless to say, I am sad. lol For the last 2 years, everyone kept telling me how I should put her in daycare for this reason or  that reason... For one, NO ONE should be telling me what I should or shouldn't do with MY kid. Anyways... I ignored everyone. I read too many horrific news stories about daycares, so of course, I was terrified. There are ways to prepare you and your child for their first time going to daycare. I had to try and cram all of these together in one day, so it was pretty overwhelming for me. Research Facilities And Reviews Calling and researching more than one daycare he...

Anything

So my name is Katherine. My best friend here asked me to be a guest blogger on her blog. Well let's talk about anything. We could talk about kids (which I have one), we could talk about ex's (we all have those), we could talk about food, maybe even dating. You know what let's talk about dating. Dating is a joke these days! Who know being a single mother and dating would be so hard! Like really how childish can a guy be when it comes to a woman who holds her own ground would be so intimidating! Guy's just want sex. Nothing more. I hate dating! They say one thing but they mean the complete opposite. And if they get mad they just turn around and call you a scum and so forth. Like really? What is wrong with guys?!?! Ok rant over. Sorry Jessie if this post sucks! Love you!

Are you teaching your kids to be good people?

I often wonder if I'm truly a good person and being kind and if I'm really teaching my kids to be good people as well. If you're struggling with this too, please read the following. Be H onest This is a big one. Be honest in everything you do. Be honest with your kids, it will teach them that being honest is the right thing to do even if it's hard to be honest. You are your kids main influence. They learn from the things you do. Be Respectful To Others You know the golden rule, "Treat others how you want to be treated." Teach this to your kids, it will help them to understand that bullying is not okay.  Be Happy Be happy to wake up to another day. Be grateful for the things and people you have in your life. Don't dwell on what you could have. Have a positive outlook on everything. Teach your kids this so they can be thankful for what they have and be positive. Have fun in everything you do. Take the time out of your everyday responsibilities to...

Eleven MOM quotes to lift your spirits.

Another mom blogger posted some of her favorite motivational quotes that she said helps her when she's having a bad day. I thought I would do some of my favorite being a mom quotes that have truly helped me when I have felt defeated.  This one is so true. I am pro at doing pretty much anything one handed. This! I can't count the number of times that my husband says we need a night of fun and my idea of fun is watching Finding Dory for the 3rd time while eating goldfish crackers with my kids. I can't even remember what my life was like without my kids and now, I couldn't imagine what my life would be like without them.  This one is my favorite. "You were given these children- You . No one else." If you are have a rough day or even a rough week because mom lives are unpredictable, messy, crazy and exhausting, remember that you mean the world to your babies and they need you. That's all that matters. ❤

Every Mom Life Is Different.

Moms are always comparing their lives and issues to other mom's. "You don't have to deal with what I  have to..." "You have it easier, my life is all over the place..." etc. No mom's life is easier or harder than another. They are all hard, but in different ways. Being a mom is the toughest job out there. We all face the same, but also different obstacles being a mom. We need to support and stand by each other. Let's take a look inside another fellow mom's life. I interviewed one of my friends and asked her a few question. My name is Angie. My husband, Justin and I met 9 years ago. We welcomed our son, Nicholas in 2010. We currently live in Eagle, Colorado and love being in the mountains. Like most families, we face different scenarios constantly that we work together as a family to overcome. Was becoming a mom anything like you expected? I knew being a mom would not be easy, but I did no think it would be this difficult. I wa...

Toddler 101: Road trips with toddlers made easier.

We all know that traveling with toddlers isn't the most fun. They get restless and tired from being confined to their car seat and then morph into demons. Don't worry though; I'm here to help you make traveling with your toddler better for everyone in the car. Dress Them Comfortably Dress them in something easy like, sweatpants or leggings. Would you want to sit in a car seat for hours in jeans? I think not. If it's cold out, loose long sleeves, but remember to not put your child in the car seat with a big poofy jacket on!! My daughter is always messing with her shoes like they are bothering her when she's in the car, so I put her in slippers for long car rides and she doesn't fuss with them. Tablet This is a lifesaver for me and my daughter. Having Hotspot helps too but it isn't necessary. You can download movies on the tablet from Netflix before hand for your road trip. Unfortunately for me, my daughter likes to watch videos on YouTube so ...

Toddlers 101: Guide To Toddler Proofing Your Life.

For all you first time mom's, If you think your new crawler gets into everything, you haven't seen nothing yet. Toddlers, they run. They run and jump and climb like freaking ninjas. You think I'm kidding? Come watch my 2 year old for an hour. Hahahaha. Don't worry though, there are ways to toddler proof your life. I'm not gonna lie, there is no accurate method to 100% toddler proof. Safety Gates These are perfect for rooms with no doors, like the kitchen, unless you have an odd shaped kitchen. It seems like the kitchen is my daughters favorite room other than the bathroom. Thank goodness the bathroom has a door. Lol. Speaking of bathroom doors, this brings me to my next item... Doorknob/Handle Safety Locks I haven't had to buy these yet because the knobs we have, Averie can't open yet. She can however open the door handles that you just have to pull down. Found that out when we went to visit my Grandma out of state and Averie opened the front door...

How to get through a hard day of Mom-ing.

Raising a family is one of the toughest jobs ever. I know I've had many days where I found myself overwhelmed and just defeated. Meltdowns and tantrums plus all the other things that need to be done would overwhelm anyone. In order to avoid losing your marbles in these situations, you must read on. Take Plenty Of Breaks. Taking plenty of breaks is important, don't run yourself to the ground. Perhaps you could spend your break watching a funny video , reading short stories or articles or even just walk around your backyard for some fresh air. This will help you to better manage your stress so you don't feel so vanquished. Give Yourself Something To Look Forward To. If what's getting you through your tough day is YOU time after the kids go to bed, then go big. Take a bubble bath with your favorite beverage or do a full spa; bath, facials manicure and relax in bed, the whole nine yards. You deserve it. Have Some Fun. If you need a quick laugh, I suggest...

Dear Stay at home moms, I give you props.

The other day, My friend Ashley Moore wrote a blog post, called, Dear working moms, We struggle too.  I thought I'd write a response post to hers. For the first year of my daughter's life, I was a SAHM. Today, I have a full time job, working 40 hours a week., and yeah, being away from my kid is hard but honestly, in my opinion, being a SAHM is harder by far! For all of you (dads included) who think staying home with the kids is a cake walk, you must have some screws loose! It's hard. It's physical, emotionally and mentally hard. No joke. Don't get me wrong, I loved being home with my daughter- I got to see most if not all of her firsts which is amazing, but being a SAHM doesn't just consist of experiencing your babies firsts. It requires cleaning, feeding, more cleaning, diaper changes, laundry, more feedings, more laundry (laundry is never ending by the way), cooking, more cleaning, doctors appointments (alone, which are awful when your little is getting ...

Averie is Two!

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was in the hospital having Averie and now, she's two years old! Time does fly. I don't like it. Averie has her own little sassy personality and she is so intelligent in so many ways. Let me just tell you, terrible two's are in full force with this one. It's to the point where I refrain from taking her in public... Except for Walmart. There's always kids throwing fits in Walmart, so she fits right in there. The best term  still to be used for Averie is Sour patch Kid. She can be so grumpy and mean and scream in your face but then gives you a hug, asks for a "Kissey" and tells you she loves you. Averie is a good mixture of both Mommy and Daddy. She's a girly girl who loves to wear pretty things and loves glitter but is also a tomboy who loves her brother, dirt and just to be messy. She's like a little tornado, honestly. She can destroy a room in minutes, but luckily, she is just like her mama and likes t...

Be thankful always.

Since its thanks giving, I thought I'd  take time to tell you all what I'm thankful for. You're going to have times in your life when you feel like everything is falling apart and lately, that's been my life but what's important is remembering what truly matters, what you are truly thankful for. I am thankful that my mom brought me into this world for me to find my purpose. I am thankful for Donna who helped raise me my whole life and continued to mold me into who I am today after she moved away. I truly believe I found my purpose and that's to be a mother. I am thankful for my husband's ex wife Danielle for allowing me to be apart of their son, Dominick's life as his step mom. He is the reason I learned how to be a mom in the first place. He gave me knowledge on how to deal with teenagers before my daughter becomes one. He was the first one to show me what love from a child feels like. Thank you Danielle for continuing to let me be ...

Happy first Birthday to my Baby Girl

Today is a bittersweet day for me. My baby girl is one year old. My pregnancy went by so fast and her first year did as well. She has such a personality already. She is sassy but sweet. The best way I can describe her is by saying she is a sourpatch kid. She will yell at me but then give me kisses. Her Likes: Music Tarzan Doc Mcstuffins Shoes Baby Cheetos Mashed Potatoes Spaghetti Bath time Her brother Brother's room Her babies (Stuffed animals) Bracelets Anyone's bellybutton My lips Lol DVD Shelves  Her Dislikes: The word "No" Peas When anyone walks away from her When shes locked out of the kitchen When we won't let her eat dog food Basically when she doesn't get her way It's amazing how much babies learn in just one year. She is already so smart. She was saying "Mom" & "Dada" around 8 months old. Today, on her birthday, she stood up on her own for the first time...of course I was not in the room wh...
