Are you teaching your kids to be good people?

I often wonder if I'm truly a good person and being kind and if I'm really teaching my kids to be good people as well. If you're struggling with this too, please read the following.

Be Honest
This is a big one. Be honest in everything you do. Be honest with your kids, it will teach them that being honest is the right thing to do even if it's hard to be honest. You are your kids main influence. They learn from the things you do.
Be Respectful To Others
You know the golden rule, "Treat others how you want to be treated." Teach this to your kids, it will help them to understand that bullying is not okay.
Be Happy
Be happy to wake up to another day. Be grateful for the things and people you have in your life. Don't dwell on what you could have. Have a positive outlook on everything. Teach your kids this so they can be thankful for what they have and be positive. Have fun in everything you do. Take the time out of your everyday responsibilities to have fun with your kids. Let them know that you can have fun too. You don't always have to be so serious in life.
Be Compassionate
Show kindness to everyone. Be caring and willing to help others. Do good things, such as donate to a charity or help someone in need.
The other day, my husband found $5 on the ground and instead of keeping it, he gave it to someone who is homeless. The day before that, we went to Sonic for lunch and a young college student was our carhop. When we found out that he was going to college and working, we decided to give him a $20 tip. To be compassionate, you need to be understanding. Letting your kids see you do things like this will teach them to have compassion for everyone.
Don't Judge
You have no idea what other have or are going through. You wouldn't want want someone to judge you during a rough time in your life. Everyone is human and God's children. No one is better than another.
Apologize
No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and do wrong sometimes. The key is to apologize for your mistakes.
Children are born with the compacity for empathy, understanding and love. It's essential for your kids to know and understand that everyone makes mistakes but can apologize for them. They need to know that their mistakes or wrong doing can affect others. Teaching them how and why to apologize will teach them to be understanding and honest.

Your children watch everything you do. They listen to how you speak to them and others. They are learning to be who they are from you. You are molding them to be good human beings that will eventually go off and be an essential part of society.

  1. This is so important. We get so busy sometimes teaching kids to walk, talk, read, and write, that we forget to teach the things that really matter.

Married To A Mechanic: 8 things to expect. 🔧

Since I've started blogging, I've only blogged about my husband personally like once or twice, so this is dedicated to my mechanic husband. Erich has been working on cars since he was about 14 years old, so 20 years. He does it for a living but on diesels. He does it in hi spare time as well so basically, all the freaking time. Here's what to expect if you date a mechanic. Car Talk Mechanics talk about cars like 24/7; Parts, make and model, they even try to explain to you how certain parts work. If you tell them you don't understand, they will explain again, in depth with more detail, which is even more confusing. Either go on Google and learn a little bit or pretend you understand what they are talking about. Oil & Grease White anything is against any mechanics beliefs. I have to clean the walls, counters, appliances, PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING at minimum of 3 times a week. They are usually covered from head to toe in oil and grease. Honestly, I thin...

Spring Time Means Allergies!

Sprint time is the worst season for me. I hate this season honestly. My allergies are horrible during spring, like when I say horrible, I mean face swollen, constant nose blowing. The whole awful nine yards. Just the other day, I swear I sneezed about a million and one times and then lost my voice. We just moved into a house that had ben vacant for two months before we moved in, so there was two months of dust accumulated on the floors and walls. Needless to say, my first day in our new house consisted of a lot of sneezing and wheezing. Since spring is just around the corner and that means so are allergies, I made a list of home remedies for allergy relief that has really helped me and hopefully will help you too. Honey Local raw honey, it builds your immune system up to what's around you. You can get this at places like Whole Foods. Make sure it is local honey though.
